Join us as a Commercial Manager, and you’ll help to deliver this vision by working on some of the most innovative projects in local government. You’ll work as part of a team of more than 40 commercial and procurement professionals, covering the full range of council services – from Public Health initiatives to major works and ICT.
You’ll be involved in projects from their inception, advising your clients and helping to shape the commercial design. You’ll make the process seamless and ensure outcomes are achieved.
In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to generalise or specialise – to try out new things or to hone your craft. Either way, this role offers great variety, challenge and career progression.
You’ll be highly organised and methodical, with plenty of experience of delivering complex projects against challenging timescales. Ideally, you’ll support this by being CIPS qualified.
A strong customer ethos and outstanding stakeholder management skills are essential. You’ll be outcomes focused, using best practice to achieve better results for the council and the communities it serves – and never bogged down by process at the expense of outcomes.
You’ll probably be working in a Category Manager or Commercial Manager role now. Where this is – public, private or third sector – isn’t important. What matters is that you bring energy, drive and a commitment to achieving the council’s goals. Sure, there are rules and regulations to be followed – but you’ll bring a creative spark that keeps us compliant while achieving the best possible outcomes for our residents, businesses and communities.
